Overview
Our Rainbow Mountain Tour on ATVs begins with pickup from your hotel in the city of Cusco between 3:30 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. We will then travel by tourist transport to our base of operations in Japura, the starting point of this exciting adventure through the breathtaking landscapes of the Vilcanota Mountain Range. Because the route runs through high-Andean terrain and requires safe riding, upon arrival you will receive an induction of approximately 15 to 20 minutes. During this briefing, our guide will provide all necessary recommendations on ATV handling, safety rules, and important details about the route. We will then transfer to our restaurant in Hanchipacha to enjoy a delicious buffet breakfast. Once finished, we will set off toward the famous Vinicunca Mountain on ATVs, crossing spectacular Andean landscapes for approximately 30 minutes. Upon reaching the parking area, we will pay the corresponding entrance fee and begin a short walk to the main viewpoint. Because the Rainbow Mountain features a mineral formation unique in the world, you will be able to appreciate the stunning natural colors that have made this destination one of the most visited attractions in Peru. Our guide will offer a detailed explanation of the site and you will then have free time to take photos and videos. After enjoying this wonderful natural setting, we will return to the restaurant to savor a varied buffet lunch. This will give you the energy needed to continue with the second stage of this adventure experience. We will begin the Ausangate ATV tour, riding for approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes through vast high-Andean landscapes surrounded by mountains, wetlands, and snow-capped peaks. Thanks to the natural beauty of this route, you will enjoy unique panoramic views while riding through one of the most impressive sectors of the Peruvian Andes. Upon arriving at the Ausangate Glaciers, we will leave the ATVs at the parking area and pay the corresponding entrance fee. We will then begin a hike of between 40 minutes and 1 hour. Just a few minutes into the trail we will spot the first lake, known as Laguna Ausangate, which stands out for its crystal-clear waters and the surrounding mountain scenery. Continuing the hike, we will reach Laguna Qorisonqo, located at the foot of the imposing glaciers. Due to its privileged location, this spot offers one of the best views along the entire route. Here you can rest, hydrate, enjoy snacks, and capture incredible photographs of the landscape. Afterward, we will take an additional walk to a natural viewpoint from which three more lakes can be seen. Thanks to this combination of landscapes, this route has become an excellent alternative for those seeking a more complete experience than a traditional visit to Vinicunca. Finally, we will board the ATVs once again to return to our base of operations in an approximately 2-hour ride. Our tourist transport will be waiting there to take us back to the city of Cusco.
