The Rainbow Mountain and Red Valley represent one of the most complete and scenic trekking routes in the Cusco region.

Overview

The Rainbow Mountain and Red Valley represent one of the most complete and scenic trekking routes in the Cusco region. This 2-day experience combines high-altitude mountain landscapes, encounters with Andean communities, and the opportunity to explore two of Peru's most breathtaking destinations in a single journey. On the first day, the hike unfolds around the majestic Ausangate glacier, crossing vast high-Andean plains where alpacas, llamas, and unique natural formations can be spotted. As we progress, the scenery shifts dramatically, revealing lagoons, glaciers, and mountains that reflect the extraordinary natural wealth of the Vilcanota mountain range. The second day is dedicated to reaching the main highlight: the Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca), renowned for its vivid natural hues created by mineral deposits. The adventure then continues to the Red Valley, a less-visited yet equally stunning landscape defined by its intense reddish tones set against the Andean backdrop. This trek not only takes you to iconic destinations but also offers a more relaxed and gradual experience compared to single-day tours, allowing for better altitude acclimatization and a deeper, more authentic connection with the natural environment.
