Summary
On the 4-Day Ausangate Trek Tour, the first day we depart from Cusco to Tinqui by private transport. After a brief stop, we continue to the trailhead at Upis Pampa. We begin trekking through Andean communities, streams, and open landscapes until we reach Upis. In the afternoon, there is the option to visit Upis lagoon. From the campsite, we enjoy breathtaking views of the Ausangate snowcapped mountain. Night in cabins. On the second day, very early we begin hiking toward Arapa Pass (4,968 m), surrounded by high-Andean landscapes and local wildlife such as alpacas, vicuñas, and birds. Throughout the route, the imposing Ausangate massif accompanies us at every step. We pass by lagoons of different colors before reaching our campsite at Pucacocha, surrounded by mountains and glaciers. The third day is one of the most challenging of the entire route. We cross Pucacocha Pass (5,051 m) with spectacular views of mountains and glacial lagoons. We then descend into the impressive Red Valley, known for its intense colors. In the afternoon, we ascend to Warmi Saya Pass (4,500 m), where the Rainbow Mountain comes into view for the first time. We continue to our campsite at Queulla Qocha, with the option to watch the sunset over the mountain. On the fourth and final day, we set off early toward the Rainbow Mountain, where we have time to enjoy the scenery and take photographs. After visiting the Rainbow Mountain, we continue to the nearby Red Valley — an additional 30-minute walk — where you can admire a unique landscape of intense reddish hues. Finally, we head to the meeting point with our transport to begin the return journey to Cusco, completing the 4-Day Ausangate Trek Tour.
